For the red carpet premiere of Second Chance I was fortunate enough to have two wonderful stylists working my hair, so I decided to go for an unusually elaborate hairdo (by my low maintenance girl standards ;). I’d been wanting to have my punk moment for a long time! So I decided to take the plunge and asked for an elegant mohawk hairstyle to edge up my classic cat eye and red lip makeup look (check out the makeup tutorial here).
If you’d like to replicate this fab hairdo or just want to see how it’s expertly done, watch Tyler and Jennifer of the Aveda Institute Los Angeles give us step by step instructions on how to achieve this statement-making red carpet look.
The Aveda air control hairspray generously used in this tutorial to get my curly mane to behave, is the nicest smelling I’ve ever come across. Seriously, I was totally taken by surprise. Aerosol hairsprays, though necessary at times, are not exactly the most environmental-friendly beauty tool and typically make me want to rush towards the nearest window (I’m extremely sensitive to artificial fragrances). But this flax and jojoba laden spray truly has a heavenly scent, and it later washed off my hair with unexpected ease.
All in all, I had loads of fun going through the process. At the time I actually had no clue what I looked like until the session was over and I rushed to a nearby mirror. I was awestruck and felt ravishingly punk! I could become dangerously addicted to that fabulous “bad girl” feeling. An absolutely MUST do again đ

It’s amazing how you never run out of ideas Ndoema đ
Some people might feel restricted with a hair like that, but I love how you play around with your mane!
I’ve always wanted to have that look without looking so masculine.
Now that is fierceeeeee!!
