Photographed in the Casablanca suite at Hotel Figueroa.
The Casablanca suite at Hotel Figueroa is an experience straight out of the Bogart-Bergman classic romance. I’ve seen it about a dozen times at this point (yes I’m a classic movie buff) and even though the film is in glorious black and white, I’ve always envisioned it – in my mind’s eye – in a fiery color palette of ocres and reds and bathed in shimmering golden light.
I’ve confessed, I’m a zen girl at heart. I have a Japanese (borderline monastic) aesthetic when it comes to home decor and architecture. I like my space sparse, modern, predominantly white (all my furniture is literally white) with restrained chrome accents. But… Right now I’m under a Moroccan spell. I’m so enamored with the opulent lifestyle, I’m seriously considering adding a Moroccan-themed hangout at the studio. First on my list of must-have(s)? This massive wrought iron lamp. I want.
