Finally, a new recipe! (shot in my Thai pad in Bangkok)
I’m speedily getting over this health setback and I owe it in great part to this amazingly potent (yet disarmingly simple) smoothie. I’ve been guzzling at least 28 oz of this healthy concoction every day along with an aggressive Vitamin C therapy I discovered through Charlotte Gerson at the Gerson Institute.
Let me tell you, Vitamin C is amazing. Seriously. Yes, a daily intake of Vitamin C rich fruits and veggies is fabulous in the skin department but it really works wonders from the inside out. It’s a full-body detox powerhouse and, taken in large quantities (I’ve taken up to 40,000 mg per day), it has extraordinary healing properties.
Passion fruits happen to be packed with Vitamin C. They’ve been a staple of my “diet” since settling down in Bangkok but my constant craving for this super tasty gift of nature had me scouring farmers’ markets throughout Southeast Asia. You might have gotten a glimpse of them lying around on my Thai kitchen counter. Ironically, I realized after the post went live that I had forgotten to add a blurb about the latest object of my undivided obsession. So I’m making up for it now by sharing with you this fabulous Glowy Skin Smoothie recipe.
This super smoothie’s second most important ingredient is fresh papaya. Papaya is loaded with antioxidants (zeaxanthin and beta-carotene) as well as a digestive enzyme called papain. Papain helps breaking down proteins (great post-holiday weapon) and provides great enzymatic support for the intestines, stomach and the pancreas. I know what you’re thinking. We’re talking about beautiful skin here not what goes on in the tummy. The thing is these two are intricately related. Proper digestion, nutrient absorption and elimination are key elements in achieving gorgeous skin.
Another cool thing about papain is that it also works topically. It acts as a natural exfoliant and is effective in scar remedy and to cleanse and rejuvenate the skin. So you can drink this delish smoothie and slather it on your face as well for the ultimate glow effect.

Another healthy installment from Ndoema! Woot!
Wow! Looks so good.
Awesome recipe!
I like your recipes because most of them are easy to do. I’m not a whiz in the kitchen. I couldn’t find any passion fruit so I just tried the papaya, OJ and bananas and they were still great tasting.
Thank you for sharing the smoothie recipe, I will certainly try it!
Oh my goodness, that looks incredible! I love papaya. And i’m a big fan of your smoothies. Been waiting for your recipe from Asia for the longest time 😀
It’s my new year’s resolution to prepare and eat healthier foods. Will try this.
This smoothie looks so good – I feel like I could drink one whole glass in one sitting lol.
I haven’t tried passion fruit yet, can you eat the seeds?
