I’ve fessed up to it on many an occasion, I’m a minimalist at heart. I know some of you might be raising an eyebrow – or two – as I’m routinely sporting some pretty over-the-top gowns with heavy beading and a serious line-up of Swarovski crystals and all… Oh, and yes I have a predilection for feathers (proof here and here), in-your-face statement jewelry and sky-rocketing stilettos. All right, let’s say I’m a minimalist at heart who loves a fair dose of opulence and drama! That said, you won’t find any rococo and baroque stuff on my blog (and/or my life) and once work is over and I kick off these heels, I’m really a Zen kinda girl. If you could roam my abode (I promise you, you won’t. I’m a pathologically private person) you’d see that I walk the zen talk. I don’t hoard (except when I’m boarding planes for Fashion Week… But that comes with the territory and it’s only twice a year). I love space and sparsity (clutter drives me insanely crazy 😉 And I’ve made it a delightful practice with every move to a new home or continent (please don’t ask me how many times I’ve packed up my life… too many to keep track) of giving away every single thing I own. You should give it a shot one day. I swear, feels like being born into a brand new life and I love it.
So I thought it only appropriate to share with you my predilection for the singular beauty of simplicity, by picking this gorgeous silk ensemble by Ghanian-born and NYC-based designer Mimi Plange. The epitome of Zen in my humble opinion. Less is more as they say, but it’s also more difficult to achieve and so she does with flying colors.
