The full monochromatic look is arguably one of my all-time favorite styles. Though many shy from it for all the wrong reasons (it’s not for the wallflower, I concede), it’s by far the easiest styling technique to pull off. It’s effortlessly elegant, graphic, bold (in an understated kind of way) and gives a girl some legs. Passing along a little styling secret here… Dressing monochromatic is a sure way to elongate any silhouette. And who doesn’t want legs for days?
You can dress it up like I did here for my New York Fashion Week day 1 look, with a feathered fishtail top, matching ruffle shorts and color-coordinated leather tote. Or dress it down with a khaki denim on denim look or a clean all-white look. It’s pretty hard not to get right, even for the fashion uninitiated.
I always love to edge things up a notch 😉 and the monochromatic look is the perfect backdrop for showcasing attention-deserving accessories. I’ve been nursing a growing obsession over Japanese designer Ayaka Nishi’s spine and bone inspired jewelry. A boon for the statement kinda of girl I happen to be. So I spiced up this zen look with accents of metallic gold and Ayaka’s seven rib bracelet and matching bronze and gold necklace. I Luv!
