Happy New Year Greetings to you all from The Golden Land of Myanmar. I hope you’ve started 2015 with a bang!
It’s been an eventful few weeks leading up to the holiday celebrations, filled with unexpected twists and turns, transformative adventures and the discovery of some of the most exquisitely beautiful and inspiring places I’ve ever had the chance to explore. All sprinkled in with just the right amount of challenges to add to my travel adventures that extra dose of spice! Including spotty – and more often than not flat out nonexistent – internet access. A computer meltdown (my beloved MacBook decided to give its last breath as I landed in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I spent days hunting down a new laptop and now have the extra fun of working with a Thai keyboard!). And a minor health backlash caused by the incessant airplane hopping, chronic dehydration and inevitable lack of proper nutrition. But I didn’t let any of it get in the way of my travel plans and the enjoyment of the amazing places my Southeast Asia adventure has led me to.
After memorables journeys through Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, I landed in fascinating Burma for Christmas and New Year. Now with a gazillion beautiful memories in my heart and a dangerously skyrocketing number of photographs tucked away, I’m setting my sights on a quiet temporary Bangkok abode where I’ll unpack my bags for a few days, nurse myself back to health and pick up the editing work I’d started back in Phuket before taking off for Kathmandu, Nepal.
I can’t wait to share with you all the beauty and inspiration I’ve come across over the last couple months and wish that this exciting new year brings your way many wondrous gifts and much happiness.
