Really, this post should be titled: Never say never! If you had told me less than a year ago that I would become an avid runner, I would have laughed in your face. I’m serious. For as long as I can remember I’ve always loathed running. I’ve had a lifelong passion for dance, deep love for ashtanga yoga but running… no way! It’s never been what I’d call my cup of tea. Well over six months ago, all of that drastically changed and I discovered a genuine love and appreciation for this sport.
I’ve shared a lot with you about my passion for healthy living, especially in the field of nutrition. The tremendous benefits of the raw vegan lifestyle, as well as blending, juicing, extended juice fasting, liver detox, the importance of colon cleansing, and even the practice of detoxing the mind. I haven’t really addressed exercise as much, not because I consider it unimportant when it comes to optimum health, beauty and well being, rather because in my experience nutrition absolutely comes first. I’ve found it to be the foundation of any genuinely transformative and wellness enhancing lifestyle (both in terms of health and beauty).
So why running? The main benefit for me has been more in the psychological and emotional realm, because honestly raw foods and juice fasting take the best care of my body. I’ve found running to be a wonderfully therapeutic practice, especially for stress relief. Gotta love these endorphins. It’s also a form of moving meditation for me. Believe it or not, I get my best ideas, insights and inspiration on a run. It really puts me in the zone.
So when in need of more oomph or if life gives you lemons… Run, Baby run!
