After bidding Canggu Beach farewell and heading off to Ubud, I caught the early morning magic at Ulun Danu and stopped by Candi Kuning for a stroll through one of Bali‘s most charming and archetypal traditional markets.
Candi Kuning is a sprawling shopping heaven and colorful celebration of Bali’s beautiful culture and love for all things beautiful (and delicious ;).
I was mesmerized by the stunning selection of vibrant orchids and fragrant “jungle blooms”, the truckloads of exotic tropical fruits (from fluorescent pink dragon fruits to the captivating salak snake fruits and hairy rambutans) and the dramatically hand-painted Barong masks. And of course I walked away a beaming raw-foodie with armfull of
flavor-bursting delicacies to take home to my Ubud abode.

Guava shake…. Mmmmm!
Those blooms are lovely! It would’ve been haven if I was there with you! Been thinking of having hanging potted plants in my garden.
Did you get to bring any of those back to the US?
Unfortunately not ;( I was off to Thailand after that but as I’ve shared in my Khlong Toey Market post (http://theglobalgirl.netkhlong-toey-fresh-market-bangkok-thailand/), there are plenty of amazing tropical goodies there as well!
The mask is scary!
Have to go out more. I could not recognize any of the stuff in the market even if my life depended on it!
I recognize the dragon fruits from the picture, but I’ve never tasted them 🙁
They’re as tasty as they are vibrant! They’re not excessively sweet, which I personally really love 😉
