When I received this breathtaking amber and sterling silver antique necklace as a gift, I almost fell backward. A few months earlier, I did a double take when my eye caught an ancient wooden sculpture from South East Asia of a dragon eating its own tail at an antiques store. I got goose bumps all over and had to take it home with me. I have a fascination for sacred geometry and needless to say the circle holds a very special place in my heart. Yet I wasn’t familiar at the time with “Ouroboros” (from the Greek Οὐροβόρος, “tail-devouring snake”), the ancient and universal symbol of the eternal unity of all things.
My quasi constant gazing at the fierce and powerful sculpture triumphantly sitting in my living room must have sent a steady stream of messages to the Universe that I wanted more of this magnetic energy in my life (at least that’s a poetic explanation I fancy) hence this gorgeous adornment swiftly landing into my grateful hands.
You can see it in action here, worn with Stella McCartney pants, Marni platform stilettos and a blouse by Isabel Marant.
